Water is wonderful. Without it we’d be lost. With it, everything’s possible.

For every toothbrush, for every loo flushed. For the hot showers, the cool drinks, the cups of tea. (Because honestly? There’s nothing that can’t be sorted over a nice cup of tea.) But it’s not just at the heart of our homes. It’s at the heart of everything; our schools, our businesses, our hospitals. Saving lives, helping communities thrive. It’s essential, and we simply cannot live without it.

We’re Severn Trent, a diverse and amazing group of people who want to keep it that way. We bring you clean water and we take it away safely too. But it’s not just what we do. It’s how we do it: not just talking, but going over and above. Stepping up and rolling our sleeves up. And it’s why we do it: because we care. Not only about our water but our little corner of the country and the community we serve. We care for our amazing colleagues who without them none of this would be possible. We care about making sure they reflect the communities we work in too.

At Severn Trent we do more, because we care.

New job? Great! New career? Wonderful!

You’re not only looking for your next job. You’re looking for a career. A role where you can really make a difference. Where the possibilities are endless. One in three of our Customer Advisors progress their careers within two years.

We’re looking for people to join us in our Customer Service department to support our customers – and with no scripts or sales targets you can be your best self. At Severn Trent, we want people, not robots.

Haven’t got customer service or water industry experience? Don’t worry, we can help you with that – we’ll give you all the training you need to succeed.

Sound good? Let us tell you more.

You’ll be the voice of Severn Trent. But just as important, you’ll be listening to what customers tell you and helping them with the right information. Every call is different; one minute you’ll be helping someone with their bill, the next you might be dealing with a leak. So, if you’re a good listener with attention to detail this is the role for you.

You’ll work in our busy customer hub full of like minded people. It’s a great open plan office environment with canteen that serves fantastic food. There’s fun incentives, free parking, regular competitions and prizes up for grabs too (Plus, you’ll get free tea and coffee, all made with our marvellous water of course).

Don’t worry if this is something that you’ve not done before. We’re interested in what you can bring to the role. In return we’ll give you six weeks of training, so you’re well prepared and confident to take calls from our customers. So that we can make sure that you have all the training you will need to really excel, if you have any annual leave booked during the training period, we may need to ask you to join us at a later date after your holiday.

And it doesn’t end there. Our continued training helped one in three of our advisors progress their careers within two years. Wonderful!

Our water is vital to our customers, so we need to be around when they need us. You’ll be working shifts totalling 37 hours per weekbetween the hours of 7:45am and 9:00pm, Monday to Friday and Saturday’s 8:45am to 5:30pm (but of course, that means you’ll get time off in the week).

Don’t worry – you’ll always have plenty of notice of your shifts, plus lots of annual leave. We know you have a life outside work, too!

Still you? Excellent.

Limited or no experience? Don’t worry, we’ve got you.

We want someone who’s keen to make a positive difference to our customers. Your character, positivity and a caring attitude are the things we’re looking for. It’s great if you have some kind of customer focused experience such as retail, hospitality, sales or similar. But even if you haven’t, we can help you with this.

It’s a fast-paced environment so you’ll need to be comfortable in resolving one query and then moving quickly onto the next.

At Severn Trent you can be the person you want to be. We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality as we know diverse minds, experiences and backgrounds help us to learn and better serve our communities. We employ thousands of people from across our community who really care about what they do. Because that is how we do what we do.

And when it comes to inclusion, we’re making sure we keep up the progress with our wonderful working groups – LGBTQ+, Women in Operations & STEM, Disability and Ethnicity, who help us do just that.

We do more, because we care.
