Job Purpose:

The In-Business Risk & Control (IBRC) Credit Risk Officer for Securities Services business will assist with implementation of the Wholesale Credit Risk Standard, as well as on-going monitoring, analysis and oversight of credit risk within Securities Services. The individual will help apply the standard to ensure we measure the risk accurately, capture, report and escalate credit risk issues and so corrective measures can be taken to mitigate the risk.

Job Background/Context:

Securities Services is a division within the ICG, supporting Banks, FI’s and Corporate clients with a number of product and services including Custody, Fund Services, Issuer Services and Execution Services. Reporting to Global IBRC Custody Head with additional oversight from SS IBRC product leads.

Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing independent risk oversight of Direct Custody & Clearing and Global Custody, Funds Services, Issuer and Execution Services Business
  • Partner with and challenge Product and Regional Business Heads, Coverage and other first line business colleagues on credit relates matters and operating processes required for the Securities Services products offered
  • Collaborate with second line partners in other Risk areas e.g. Operational Risk, Legal, Compliance and Counterparty Risk, to ensure second line holistic coverage of the SS businesses as well as with first line in-business risk colleagues
  • Assist with the implementation and on-going support for the Securities Services WCR Standards and, as services evolve, continue to adapt the standard as required
  • Identify key operational and emerging risks through review and continuous evaluation, design, and execution of appropriate controls and compliance
  • Conduct periodic deep-dive into specific country or product on the basis of risk & control issues
  • Maintain and deliver efficient risk and control governance structures
  • Partner, collaborate, and work with other areas within Citi across lines of defence
  • Advise business executives on credit risk and control matters and ensure new business activities are addressed with appropriate control design
  • Keep abreast of regulatory changes, new regulations and internal policies and ensure business compliance

The position provides a very wide scope of activities, geographic and legal entity coverage with frequent interaction with managers across the geography, product, risk, and functional lines. The role will be an integral member of the SS IBRC organisation and for the Custody Services business.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years relevant work experience in Business Risk & Controls
  • MS Excel, MS Access, SAS, SQL, Visual Basic a plus. 5+ years’ experience in financial services.
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective organizational influencing skills required.
  • Third party vendor management preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead global team efforts
  • Excellent problem solving skills Ability to see the big pictures with high attention to critical details
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategy and process improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Securities Services products, especially Custody and FX. Also, Agency Securities Lending, and Collateral Management and Execution services, is an advantage
  • Familiarity with frameworks that deliver policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules, and regulations

Education:

  • Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree
